Edinburgh’s Rafiki Gallery showcases an exciting selection of emerging artists in series of pop-up events and exhibitions in a variety of independent venues across the city, and online.
Born in 1995, Annalisa Merrilees is an Edinburgh-based visual artist whose detailed lines, shapes and textures tend only to be visible on close inspection, with an overall result of achieving a finely-judged and complex modulation across an entire pattern. Annalisa uses a random number generator to ‘choose’ colours which she applies to a base grid – an unusual random autonomy that is then finessed by her own controlled intervention and response.
A short video is available showing Annalisa in conversation.
